Every object in this apartment was chosen with purpose. The furniture, the fabrics, the arrangement of each room — all faithfully recreated from the interwar years, when Kaunas’s intellectual elite lived with taste and intention.

The Apartment
Inside, the apartment has been restored to the precise atmosphere of the 1930s.
The furniture, the objects, the arrangement of each room — chosen with the same deliberate care that Arnas Funkas brought to the original interior. The tulip motif, a recurring symbol of Lithuanian Art Deco, appears throughout: in carvings, in details, in the ornate wooden alcove that Aleksandra Iljinienė specifically requested.
You are not walking through a reconstruction. You are standing inside a room that remembers.
Chapter 3
The Story
The actors are already in the apartment when you arrive.
They are the Iljinas household — mid-conversation, mid-afternoon, living the particular rhythms of a Kaunas that no longer exists. You step into it. What they carry — the social rituals, the small preoccupations, the things left unsaid — belong to the 1930s, but they are not distant. They are happening in the room you are standing in.
No prior knowledge of architecture or history is required. The experience is designed for curious adults.

Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, all tours are by advance booking only. Walk-ins are not accepted. You can book directly on this page.
Is the experience suitable for children?
The experience is best suited for adults and older teenagers. Children under 12 may find some elements difficult to follow.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the tour are fully refunded. Cancellations within 48 hours are non-refundable.
Is the venue accessible for wheelchair users?
